Its a fad round that peforms good in some things and terrible in most. Its comparbale to 30-30 in supers and is weak as hell in sub form. Theres a much better round than aac for every circumstance out there. 450 bushmaster and 458 socom both dwarf the aac in put down power in sub form for instance. Imo its a good plinking sub round and thats about it.

Basically: .300 Blackout is garbage for everything except close range stealth. It’s designed specifically for x<200 yard close range stealth kills and because it’s a bigger bullet than 556 it needs more grains to move it. So its recoil is greater than 556 but it’s hearing safe quieter than 556. 556 is better on ALL accounts except sound & stealth.

What about penetration at distance? Tested that? At what point does the 300blk stop being deadly or damaging?

The 300 black out is better in every way. You get a 16 inch barrel or a 12 inch barrel rifle and supper sonic rounds. 300 blackout is way better. Don’t use a “rifle” that has the same barrel length as an Glock 17. And the 556 gun with double the barrel length and say 300 sucks.

Would you do testing with a 10mm 180gr supers(6.5"barrel) and a 300blkout 190gr subs.

What about 110 grain for the 300 blk?

So…hog hunting in Texas. .300 BLK super sonic is bad ass. It puts big ass hogs down hard and fast. It has a short range so you know you won’t hit a cow in another field. As all ammo depends on the mission.

For me, .300BLK is just a cool range toy. You can make super short, compact, suppressed guns that look cool as hell, that are super quiet, and that everyone wants to shoot. That's not to say it can't be fighting rifle/truck gun/home defense rifle, etc., it certainly can(in fact it'd probably be a pretty good truck gun depending on your truck and how your gun is set up.) I just prefer 5.56 in general, but especially for home/self defense. I also run 77gr Black Hills TMKs in my defensive rifles, so it's almost like a compromise between a 55gr 5.56 and a light supersonic. 300blk(like a 110 grain or something.) Okay, not really, but i like it okay? Give me a freakin break over here.

So, let's recap - 300 blackout is pretty much Not the round you want. Unless you just like saying, "I use Blackout ammo." Recently, you persuaded me not to buy an M14 rifle. Which made me butt hurt because I loved the M14 when I was active duty. However, it's shotability really pales compared to other calibers. Thanks for educating the masses.

300 BLK subs for inside the house. Switch mags to 300 BLK supers for outside, but 5.56 is still the go to for SHTF bug out bag.

Why not test against 5.56 subs...? Only good and cheap supers in 5.56.

I kinda figured these might be the results. Did yall test for over-penetration? I want to say that sub 300 is going to lose momentum faster. You wont have to worry too much about hitting the neighbors if you are face to face with a home intruder.

Do a comparison between either .300 blackout & .338 spectre or 5.56 vs .338 spectre. I’m in the middle of building a 8.6 blackout but I’m considering a .338 spectre build as well.

.300 blackout is the .221 fireball necked up. If you use 5.56 cases, you have to shorten them first.
